Last nite, I discovered on the TV Land Kitschen, a block of Sid and Marty Krofft shows*, one of which is "Lidsville", featuring Charles Nelson Reilly, as some sort of villain, c. 1971. It airs at 12:30 am EST, you all might wanna check it out, if you can look past the extremely primitive (probably even by 1971 standards) graphics. Also, I suggest not doing any drugs or alcohol before you watch. :-)

*The other three shows are H.R. Pufnstuf, Sigmund and the Sea Monsters, and Electro Woman and Dyna Girl, and all four shows were the ultimate in cheesy 70s graphics.

I hope they have a regular spot on TV Land.  I remember the Krofft shows on the old Family Channel at one point, but the only one I watched with any regularity was H.R. Pufnstuf.

ObCorporateRant: The Family Channel used to actually be watchable before Fox got its grubby little paws on it.  I'm just starting to wonder if Fox bought it and brought it down only to eliminate competition.

 There weren't all that many episodes of HRP made (only 17, according to Rhino's website, which is selling the entire series on DVD).  So that would be 8 1/2 weeks before TV Land would start having to go into reruns--although on the other hand, during previous Kitsch-en showings, one episode of SHAZAM! was run twice within a three-week period (coincidentally enough, Hollingsworth Morse, who directed most if not all of HRP's episodes, directed that episode of SHAZAM!).

Geez, would I like to see Filmation's library back on the tube (I believe Hallmark still owns the rights [of course, I don't have it anyway], but doesn't think it'd be beneficial to air them).

Speaking of Filmation, CNR was also a star of the Filmation-produced Uncle Croc's Block, a 60-minute show which combined live action wrap arounds with various cartoons. First airing on ABC Saturday Morning in September 1975, the series started out with 3 shows: Fraidy Cat, Wacky & Packy and M*U*S*H (a lampoon of M*A*S*H). After 8 weeks with dismal ratings, the show was shortened to 30 minutes, deleting the Fraidy Cat and Wacky & Packy segments.

Uncle Croc's Block has yet to be seen on TV again...

I think I recall Gene mentioning something about "Uncle Croc's Block" around the fall of 1975 - but I think it was just once or twice.

According to a TVGuide article (I think it was the '75 Fall Preview), "Uncle Croc's Block" was a show that Charles hated.  (I wonder why he signed up for it...)

But the animated segments from the show were included in the "Groovie Goolies and Friends" syndication package of the late 70s, IIRC (along with other Filmation series where the syndication rights were not controlled by others, meaning that they had to cut out the Archie Comics-owned Sabrina the Teen-Age Witch and her friends from the Goolies segments).  The live action segments of "Uncle Croc" weren't.

For some weird reason, I remember character actor Bob Ridgely being involved in the live-action parts of Uncle Croc's Bloc.  He was an occasional game show panelist (an episode of You Don't Say in circulation features him) and had small parts in several pretty big movies of the 1990s (he was the judge in Philadelphia and the Colonel in Boogie Nights), but to me he'll always be "The Six Dollar Man", a cyborg whose bionic parts never quite worked right.

Didn't the Bloc get cut down from an hour to thirty minutes at some point, at the expense of virtually all of the live-action stuff?

 Ridgely also played the "Hollywood Television Showcase" announcer in the movie That Thing You Do!.
